Save time by cooking large quantities, and freezing the extra. When you are planning an elaborate or time consuming meal, prepare extra servings. Making more won't increase your cooking time much, and these extra meals can be frozen, providing a fast and healthy alternative to the typical frozen TV dinner.

Always read a new recipe thoroughly before you begin cooking, preheating, or prepping. This prevents the hassles of running into surprise ingredients, equipment, or techniques and gives you a chance to hunt down substitutions--or a new recipe--if needed. Ideally, read the recipe before you do your shopping to ensure that you grab everything you need.

Do not over-season foods before you cook them. Often seasonings intensify as a food item cooks. Adding too much seasoning early on, even if the blend seemed to be good at first, may cause the food to become overly salty or spicy. Instead, add just a little bit of seasoning and taste while cooking. You can always add more seasoning later if you feel the flavor is not strong enough, but you can't take seasoning away if there is too much.

Substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise in creamy salad dressings. If you are on a diet or just trying to eat healthy, you can still make creamy salad dressings with healthy ingredients. Just substitute the mayonnaise in them with a low-fat Greek-style yogurt. This will make the dressing much healthier.
